HELMI TEMIMI

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MATHEMATICS

Helmi Temimi is an Head of Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the Gulf University for Science and Technology. In 1996, Helm Temimi attended the Engineers’ National School of Tunis, Tunisia where he earned a Civil Engineering degree in 2001. Then, he worked as a project manager in the National Company of Oil Distribution AGIL in Tunisia for two years meanwhile his ambition for Mathematics motivated him to continue his studies in Tunisia Polytechnic School from where he graduated with a Master degree in Applied Mathematics in 2004. Thanks to his work in the Master graduation project, he was selected by his advisor Dr. Sami El-Borgi to pursue in the PhD program in Mathematics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), Blacksburg, Virginia. In August 2004, he was sponsored by Virginia Tech at the Department of Mathematics where he worked as GTA and GRA. In May 2008, Helmi Temimi earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from Virginia Tech. He plans to join the academia where he will continue investigating the discontinuous galerkin method and collaborating with his advisor Dr. Slimane Adjerid in this area of research.

  • Six-part series on “Scientists of the Islamic world” on Arabtimes newspaper starting from November 1st 2013.
